Bonka Circus strengthens its management team

Bonka Circus strengthens its management team to enhance its role as a bridge-builder between talent, content and brands.

In 2012 Bonka Circus started as a personality management agency/production house. Now its future lies more than ever in building the bridge between talents, content and brands. In order to enhance that ambition, it has brought onto its management team brand strategist Peter Verbiest (Boondoggle) and ‘thoroughbred’ television producer Toon Van de Vyver (VRT). As well as that, at the beginning of 2016, Bonka Circus will be launching operations in the United Kingdom with an office in Manchester.  

In addition to traditional television shows (including Iedereen Duivel (Eén/La Deux), Fanatico (Play Sports), De Schuur van Scheire (Eén) and Zingaburia (Ketnet)), Bonka Circus has specialised in the making of cutting edge digital content with and about celebrities and personalities. This has resulted, for instance, in the production of some remarkable short online films – for, among others, New Balance with Vincent Kompany (e.g. The Bootroom or 360° Workout) – that build a bridge between talent, content and brand. Bonka Circus performed the same bridge-building role with the highly successful Red Devils campaign De Duiveluitdagingen (in collaboration with Boondoggle) in which, as content producer, it made a significant contribution to the translation of strategic objectives into relevant content.  At the same time Bonka Circus shot the documentary series Iedereen Duivel (for VRT) and Les diables au cœur (for RTBF), in which it followed the Red Devils throughout their qualification campaign for Brazil 2014.

Bonka Circus keeps a close eye on international developments in a rapidly changing media and communications environment.  In addition to supplying traditional television channels, it is increasingly producing outstanding content for dissemination through digital channels. These channels, which are gaining enormous influence, also offer a genuine forum for brands to bond with their fans and customers. In this field Bonka Circus aims to retain its pioneering role and give strength to its international ambitions by bringing onto its team these two high-profile personalities:

Peter Verbiest has put together for himself an impressive CV in the communications sector. After a career with, among others, VVL BBDO and GV Company (TBWA), Verbiest was appointed strategic director of the Louvain-based company Boondoggle in 2006. He has worked on a number of big Belgian brands (including Proximus, Telenet, Delhaize, Belfius, Studio Brussel) and in recent years has steered campaigns such as De Duiveluitdagingen and Iedereen Mee (with the Red Devils), the birth of baby elephant Kai-Mook (Antwerp Zoo), the relaunching campaign of the De Morgen newspaper, the name-change campaign for Belfius, and Dexia’s ‘New Families’ campaign. He and his teams have won 10 Effies and 13 Cannes Awards. Peter Verbiest has a broad background in communications and a passion for innovation, talent and enterprise. On 1 December he joins Bonka Circus as its Strategic and New Business Director.

Toon Van de Vyver joins Bonka Circus from the VRT where he has had a varied carrier as producer and creative-senior for a number of leading programmes ranging from Sunday evening shows (Hoe?Zo!, De Bedenkers, Eurosong etc.) to documentaries (Publiek Geheim, Belpop, Man over Woord) and travel adventures (Reizen Waes, De Baard van Bartel), and from news programmes (Verkiezingen, De Afspraak, Ter Zake) via Dagelijkse kost and Ook Getest op Mensen to sport (Sportpersoonlijkheid vh jaar, Olympische Spelen). Toon Van de Vyver's strength lies in finding the right audio-visual content for as wide and diverse a public as possible. Toon joins the team on 9 November 2015 as Creative Content Director.
